Where does the data come from?
From Kentekenregister, the official source for vehicle data in the Netherlands. Plateop combines that data with the listing you enter yourself; we never fetch listings from other sites ourselves.
Do I need the license plate?
No, it works without one too: you can search by make and model. With a license plate the report gets more precise, because we then add the official register data for that specific car.
What does a report cost?
Nothing. Plateop is free: there is no payment function and you do not need an account; you create a report and can read it straight away.
Do I need an account?
No. Plateop works without registration or login: we ask for no name, email address or password and build no profile. The list of your reports lives on your own device only, and your report is reachable through its own link.
Is this an inspection or an appraisal?
No, neither. Plateop does not see the car and does not drive it, so we do not assess its technical condition and do not issue an official value — if in doubt, always have a car inspected independently.
What can you not see in the Netherlands?
The service history, damage history and warranty status. We do see the MOT (APK) history and the official odometer verdict; the seller can request the full mileage history free of charge with DigiD at rdw.nl — so ask for it.
How reliable is the advice?
The advice from Plateop is a tool, not a mechanic's verdict. The automated analysis is not allowed to invent model-specific problems it has no reliable knowledge about and says so when something is unknown — always check the important points yourself.
Can I compare several cars?
Yes. Every report you open is remembered on your own device; with two or three completed reports Plateop puts them side by side — asking price, mileage, risk signals and purchase score in one table. If the cars are in different countries, each row keeps its own currency.
